The previous post includes a picture of our WCC classroom at Richmond High, with Site Coordinator Karen Larson and coach (and CAFL board member) Kent Wright during the second day of coaching at our newest site. Here's what Kent had to say about his first experience working with Richmond High students:
"The first day in a new school can be stressful and tentative, but not at Richmond High. We walked into Ms. Schultz's classroom and were met with positive, relaxed, and willing students. In what is the best coaching room I have experienced, my two students jumped into the process with both feet. They had done their writing, and both responded to the coaching experience well. It felt more like mid-year than the first day.
"The students weren't the only first-timers. Almost all the coaches were there for their first day also, and they brought genuine enthusiasm and warmth with them, and left with smiles on their faces.
"Karen, of course, provided her experiendce, dedication, and organization and made life much easier. I am looking forward more than ever to being part of the coaching team at Richmond High."
Thanks, Kent! I expect your students are looking forward to it as much as you are.
