Yesterday (May 30) brought what has become one of our favorite events of the year, the annual coach appreciation party hosted by the faculty and administration at El Cerrito High School.
The air in the ECHS library was filled with heartfelt, and heartwarming, testimonials from the ECHS teachers with whom we work, and from Asst. Principal Sharon Baltazar and Principal David Luongo, all describing the impact of our writer coaches in their classrooms. And the bookshelves were lined with notes from students, direct evidence of the difference our coaches make in the students' lives.
At right, English Language Development teacher Godhuli Bose describes the appreciation her English learners feel for their coaches.
When English Dept. Chairperson Curt Douglas asked students to work some figurative language into their expressions of appreciation to coaches, the kids were up to the task!
Site Coordinators Lynda Frank and Maureen Dixon (l. to r., below) joined everyone for tasty treats and were surprised with flowers at the end by Mr. Douglas.
What a gratifying event for our coaches. We love working at El Cerrito High!
